The following principles are taken from
Ex 14:1-10:

Faith Rest #1:  Our Faith is in a God who through all eternity has NEVER broken a promise

  • So do you think He will break a promise He has made to You?

Faith Rest #2:  We can be EXACTLY where God wants us and still be in a hopeless situation.

  • Does that include being in the hospital, the unemployment line, the doctor’s office waiting for a report?  Of course!

Faith Rest #3:  God Himself will lead you into hopeless situations to test your faith.

  • The purpose is to show us how little faith we have, not that God needs to find out because He already knows.

God always has our blessing in mind and He knows what is best for us even if we do not.  Remember we as believers are often like the 15 year old teenager who THINKS they know what is best for them but really are clueless.

Faith Rest #4: What we view as a hopeless situation is not so to God.

  • Was God worried when they dropped Daniel into the Lion’s Den?  Was He REALLY worried when Joseph’s brothers dropped him into the pit to starve?   Of course not!  And He is not worried about your hopeless situation either!

Faith Rest #5:  Faith requires that even though we do not know God’s perfect plan that does not mean there is not one

  • Remember you can NEVER use circumstances to judge anything in life.

Faith Rest #6:  Faith will allow us to see life from God’s perspective and thus be stable in life changing situations.

  • The key to stability in your life is seeing the challenge from divine viewpoint.

Faith Rest #7:  The only way we can see through God’s eyes is if He tells us and that is exactly what we have in the Word of God!

  • So what was your priority this week?  How often did you read your bible or listen to a bible teaching tape?  How often did you turn on Christian radio and hear a pastor teacher teach God’s Word?  How else can we see things as God sees them!

Faith Rest #8:  Even if we are told God’s perspective it will require us believing it to do any good

  • All the knowledge in the world will do no good if you do not believe what it tells you.

Faith Rest #9:  God has worked out the solution before the problem even started.

  •   Before Goliath ever yelled at David the LORD knew that David would win and be king over Israel.  He knows the outcome of your “situation” as well so just trust in Him!

Faith Rest #10:  Hopeless situations are merely opportunities for God to work on your behalf.

  •  So why do we think that He is against us?  He is   always for us!

Faith Rest #11:  Hopeless situations are solved by Faith and by God, not by the wisdom of men

  • This is why they are called “hopeless situations”.  Even with your best thinking and doing you cannot solve them.  That is why the miracles in the NT were such a proof of who Christ was.  A blind person is a “hopeless situation” from the human perspective.

Faith Rest #12:  Hopeless situations are designed for your happiness and blessing

  • Do you think God needs a hopeless situation?  If He loves you (and He does) it must be for your good or He would not allow it!

Faith Rest #13:  We will not know whether our professed faith is real or not until the pressure hits

  • It is easy for the boxer BEFORE the boxing match to profess that he is the best.  But what about afterwards?  Talk is easy.  We can talk about how we are going to trust the Lord but a pressure situation will show us!

Faith Rest #14:  God is in control even when it appears that He is not in control

  • Circumstances tell you NOTHING and it certainly says nothing about God having things under control.  Read the book of Esther where the name of God is never mentioned yet the point of the entire book is this:  God is working everything out behind the scenes even when we do not think He is!

Faith Rest #15:  We will not know beforehand how we will react to a hopeless situation

  • Have you ever criticized someone for how they handled a particular pressure?  Maybe it wasn't verbal but you thought it.  Just remember the children of Israel thought they would have faith too but they did not!

Faith Rest #16:  Faith Rest sees the victory before the battle even begins

  • Those of no Faith Rest will only see defeat.  However, God has said that you are the victor so do you see it?

Faith Rest #17:  The normal initial reaction to danger is fear but this is  probably not sin

  • When the car pulls out in front of you and you slam on the brakes you first reaction will usually be fear.  If not try riding a motorcycle for a few weeks.  But this reaction is a reaction of the emotions and not of the mind so I would not hold that this is sin.

Faith Rest #18:  It is sinful to continue in fear

  •  Perpetual fear is every bit as sinful as drunkenness and adultery

Faith Rest #19:  Panic and Fear will come to those who you would not expect it from.

  • Did you think Peter would bail and run after such a great profession of faith?  Who would have thought that ALL the disciples would desert Christ so that at the cross NONE of them would be preset?  How will you stand up under a pressure situation?

Faith Rest #20:  The suddenness of disaster can hinder the believer from concentrating on the bible doctrine which he has learned.

  • This is why the Faith Rest technique is so important

Step 1 – Claim a Promise from God – this will stabilize you

Step 2 – Remember WHO it is that promised you

Step 3 – Come to a doctrinal conclusion regarding the situation – ie. Is 41:10 “Do not fear for I am with you”.  God you promised me you are with me and you have never lied.  So I am not going to be afraid of the news I just heard on TV because you are with me”

Faith Rest #21:  As long as The Lord is with you there is no place for fear.

  • The #1 solution to fear is faith in the presence of God.  But do you really believe this?  Or is your God somewhere out in the universe completely detached from what is going on in your life.  Do you see the LORD at your side?

Faith Rest #22:   The key to Faith Rest is to see our circumstances from divine viewpoint.

  • Circumstances are one of the most misleading things in your life.  Two people will see the same thing.  One will see defeat and the other will see opportunity.

Faith Rest #23:  Fear will destroy your happiness and turn your life into a nightmare.

  • Fear is a prison, a stronghold, and is not God’s plan for us.  Remember that fear was not present until Gen 3 and after Adam and Eve had sinned.  You will not find fear in heaven.

Faith Rest #24:  Wealth does not bring happiness when your security is in jeopardy.

The following principles are taken from Ex 14:11,12:

Faith Rest #25:  Frightened believers are always irrational and they almost always come up with the wrong conclusions.

  • Fear will cloud your judgement and maie you act from emotion and not your intellect.  It will even be hard to think rationally with fear out of control.  How about your kids when they won’t pick up their cell phone and then you hear of a terrible car crash involving teen-agers.  We jump to quick conclusions and will often do stupid things we would normally never do.

Faith Rest #26:  When you are afraid you will be self-centered!

  • There are a few exceptions, such as a mother protecting her child.  But remember this is a general principle and we are generally afraid mainly for ourselves.

Faith Rest #27:  In the midst of panic leadership can always be blamed for decisions we have made.

  • Who does our country blame?

Faith Rest #28:  Self-centered people never blame themselves.

  • Remember how Adam blamed Eve, and Eve blamed the serpent.

Faith Rest #29:  Self-centeredness will always lead to self-pity.

  • Beware of the self words, such as self-esteem, self-love, self-confidence, etc.  God wants us to relay on Him and not ourselves.

Faith Rest #30:  When we have no faith and are afraid and panicking we will trade freedom for security.

Faith Rest #31:  Be careful as a believer when you long for Egypt

  • What is Egypt?  It is “the good old days” or “the way things used to be”.  Anything that you worship of the past.  Like your old job, your previous mate, or when you had your health, or maybe even when Nebraska had a different football coach.

Faith Rest #32:  Learn Faith Rest today or you will fail again tomorrow.

  • If you do not learn from your mistakes you will repeat them.

Faith Rest #33:  Continual failure in Faith Rest will result in a miserable life.

  • You are not miserable because of your job, because your income is too low, or because of who you are married to.  You are miserable because you will not trust in the Lord your God.

Faith Rest #34:  At some point the consequences of no Faith Rest may be irreversible.

  • You will NEVER lose your salvation. Simply put it is “once saved always saved”.  But, you can lose the joy of your salvation!

The following principles are taken from
Ex 14:13,14:

Faith Rest #35:  Sometimes Faith will require us to say “Lie, Lie”!

  • Whenever your flesh/mind tells you ANYTHING that contradicts the Word it is a Lie!  Have you ever told yourself “You’re just a loser”, “You’ll never amount to anything”, or how about “You are such a failure”.  These are all lies!

Faith Rest #36:  Lack of Fear is one of the byproducts of the Faith Rest Technique

  • Was Moses scared?  Nowhere do you see it in the text.  So why wasn’t Moses scared?  Because he had faith!

Faith Rest #37:  Faith Rest is the antidote for fear!

  • If you have an infection you take an anti-biotic.  But if you are afraid you Faith Rest it!  Christ explains this in Mark 4 when the waves are trying to sink the boat Christ and all the disciples are in.

Faith Rest #38:  Those who have Faith Rest will see the same circumstances as those who do not

  • The issue is not the circumstances, it is how you look at them!

Faith Rest #39:  Faith Rest sees the victory before the victory

  • What a difference this will make in your life if you look at challenges and circumstances in this way!

Faith Rest #40:  –Faith Rest is possible only when we see the Lord fighting for us, not against us.

  • So is your God little or small?

Faith Rest #41:  Faith Rest requires no effort on our part, only faith.

  • Faith is not a works or performance system (Rom 4).  It is a system of the heart and of the mind and it is non-meritorious.

The following principles are taken from Hebr 11:35-39:

Faith Rest #42  Faith Rest may not change the circumstances

  • When you have faith the circumstances are irrelevant.  The issue is whether you are going to trust God, not whether your circumstances will improve.  God is not some genie that will grant you every wish

Faith Rest #43 – What the Lord does not remove He intends for us to endure with Faith Rest.

  • God is a lot more concerned with your character than He is with your comfort.

The following principles are taken from
Ex 14:13-18

Faith Rest #44 – What is more real to you, what you see with your eyes or what you see with your soul?

  • Moses saw the Lord, the people of Israel saw the circumstances.  Which one do you see?  How would your attitude and conduct change if you saw the Lord by your side?

Faith Rest #45 - Faith Rest usually does not know what the provision of God will be, only that He will provide.

Faith Rest #46 – To solve a problem you must simplify!

  • That is the beauty of the Faith Rest life, do you believe God or not.  It is simple and it is life changing but it will not be easy.

Faith Rest #47 - Faith that is the result of a changed circumstance is usually very weak faith

  • Think of all the miracles in the NT.  Yet they still hung Christ on a cross.  So the miracles will do nothing to a hard heart.

Faith Rest #48:  –Faith Rest is possible only when we see the Lord

  • You say “How?”.  Can you see the wind?  Can we see gravity?  Can you see love?  We can only see the RESULTS of these.  So if you see Christ by your side you will see the results in your life.

The following principles are taken from
II Cor 5:7

Faith Rest #49 – A life of faith will be a confident life

  • The confidence will be in your God and not in yourself.

Faith Rest #50 – A life of faith is not to be just an occasional thing

  • Faith is not something you just “turn on” when you need it.  It must be like your breath, it must be a vital part of who you are.

Faith Rest #51 – If our happiness and contentment is based on our circumstances we are not living a life of faith

  • Because circumstances are what we SEE and this is not Faith Rest.  Ie. If your child has a 11:00 pm curfew and they come in at 10:55 you cannot say as they walk in the door “I have faith that they will be home before 11:00”.  That is sight because you can see it.

The following principle is taken from
Is. 26:3,4

Faith Rest #52 – Only a life of Faith will result in a life of peace

  • The world is changing every day.  The only way to be relaxed is to have faith.

The following principles are taken from
Ex 15:22-25

Faith Rest #53 – The presence of grumbling and complaining in our life is a sure sign that we are not living by faith

  • When we have a fever it tells us something bad is going on in our physical body.  So when we hear grumbling and complaining it is a sign something bad is going on in our spiritual lives.

Faith Rest #54 – A key component of the Faith Rest life is the understanding that the Lord is responsible for your daily provision

  • When your children were small you, not them, were responsible for their daily provision (food, shelter, etc).  You are the child of God and He is responsible for you.

The following principles are taken from
EX 16

Faith Rest #55 – God’s provision for you will often come through means you cannot comprehend

  • He made water come from a rock.  He parted and dried out the Red Sea.  He will do the same for you in your life if you will simply Faith Rest it.

Faith Rest #56 – A lack of faith can quickly spread

Faith Rest #57 – If we are not living a life of faith we will always find something to complain about

  • Complaining always looks at the circumstances and if you look hard enough at circumstances you will find something that displeases you.

Faith Rest #58 – People of no faith always find something to complain about

  • Have you complained this week?  If so, it was because you had no faith.

Faith Rest #59 – A change of location does not mean there will be a change in heart

Faith Rest #60 – A life of Faith Rest will keep us from playing
God

Faith Rest #61 – Sometimes God will bless many because of the faith of a few

Faith Rest #62 – Faith Rest sees God’s daily provision

Faith Rest #63 –  Even though we are faithless God in His grace can still choose to provide

Faith Rest #64 – Faith Rest sees God’s daily provision

Faith Rest #65 – The circumstances may change but God’s provision is the same!

Faith Rest #66 – You can use your own free will to grow in grace or you can use it to regress, it is your choice

Faith Rest #67 – If you are not living by faith you will live a self-centered life

Faith Rest #68 – When God is your shield you are in no danger regardless of where you are!

Faith Rest #69 – There is no need to fear when God has made you a promise!

Faith Rest #70 – Miracles will do absolutely nothing for you faith if you do not go to bible class

Faith Rest #71 – Without Faith Rest you will even complain with God’s grace provision

Faith Rest #72 – Left Blank (The Word of God is without error but your Pastor is not)

The following principles are taken from Gen 22

Faith Rest #73 – The purpose of testing is to test our faith so that we develop character for later service

Faith Rest #74 – Sometimes Faith Rest will require us to hold loosely those things we love so much

Faith Rest #75 – Faith Rest is not easy but it is still easier

Faith Rest #81: If necessary God will do something that has never been done before to keep His promises!

The following principles are taken from
 Gen 12:1-13

Faith Rest #82 – When we have a specific promise from God there is no excuse for being scared of other human beings

Faith Rest #83  - Lack of Faith today does not mean that you are doomed to no faith tomorrow!

Faith Rest #84 – Fear will cause us to be irrational!

Faith Rest #85 – If your life is ruled by fear you are not living a life of Faith Rest

The following principles are taken from
Ex 20:17-20

Faith Rest #86 – Lack of Faith Rest will affect your testimony!

The following principles are taken from
Gen 20:1-13

Faith Rest #87 – One person’s area of strength may be another person’s area of weakness so no faith will manifest itself differently

Faith Rest #89 – Be careful lest you pass on your area of weakness to your children

Faith Rest #90 – You can always change to a life of Faith Rest, it is always up to you!

The following principles are taken from
Ex 32

Faith Rest #93 – Your obedience only requires your faith, not your understanding

Faith Rest #95 – Everybody’s background is different

Faith Rest #96 – You are never too old to lead by example the Faith Rest life

The following principles are taken from
Numb 11

Faith Rest #106 – Complaining is a warning sign that we are not living a Faith Rest life.

Faith Rest #107 – It displeases God to the point of anger when we complain about his grace provisions

Faith Rest #108 – At some point your no Faith Rest life can lead to the sin unto death

Faith Rest #109 – A no Faith Rest life will manifest itself over and over in all different circumstances until you decide to change it

Faith Rest #110 – Grace is constant, even though our Faith Rest is not.

Faith Rest #111 – Faith Rest will not characterize your life if you are always looking back to the ways things used to be

Faith Rest #112 – A person of Faith Rest will never grow tired of God’s provision

Faith Rest #113 – Faith Rest will be more challenging if you are around negative unbelieving people

Faith Rest #114 – The most serious challenge to Faith Rest is long, continuous pressure

Faith Rest #115 – When we reject God’s provision through no Faith Rest we are rejecting God Himself

Faith Rest #116 – Do not ever look to the physical to satisfy a spiritual need

Faith Rest #117 – Yesterday’s Faith Rest victory is no guarantee for tomorrow

Faith Rest #118 – When we are discouraged we should always recall our past victories

The following principles are taken from
Numb 12

Faith Rest #122 – A life of Faith Rest does not mean you do not use your God given brain

Faith Rest #123 – A life of Faith Rest does not mean you should not plan

Faith Rest #124 – A life of Faith Rest simply means that when what we see contradicts what God has promised we believe what God has promised

Faith Rest #126 – Faith Rest is in a God of veracity who does not lie

Faith Rest #128 – At the core of no Faith Rest is an incorrect view of God.

Faith Rest #130 – When you take your eyes off God and put them on your circumstances or problems you will make the problems bigger than they really are!

Faith Rest #131 – The only way to defeat the giants in your life is to compare them to your God!

Faith Rest #132 – Oh the blessings in time we miss out on because we will not believe the Lord our God.

Faith Rest #133 – When God is for you NOTHING is an obstacle!

Faith Rest #134 – Believers of great faith often ask for the impossible!
